LEEDS SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT.......
The Misfits ventured into the world of Tournament play by going to the Leeds Softball Tournament to play against other teams from around the UK. Spending the weekend camping out on site the team decided to make their first days play one to remember by wearing outfits associated to neon as a farewell send off to Sherry Kenyon who was leaving Nottingham to work in Manchester.
The Team grasped the fun side of the game on the saturday and were the talk of the day with many players looking far from professional but definitely with a smile on their faces. Although maybe not fully focused on being serious the Team ended up finishing third on day 1 placing them into the trophey section of the tournament. So with the teams first day under their belt and out the way it was time for a little partytime on the saturday night before preparing for day two.
Sunday saw the team dressed to impress with their new kit on show and looking rather more like a softball team than a cast from the rocky horror show The Misfits set their stall out early by winning the first two games convincingly and straight into the 1/4 finals. The quarter final was a one way affair and by early afternoon the Misfits were in the Semi Finals .......and with some inside information from Sherry Kenyon about the next opponants the Team found themselves in a positive and bouyant mood.
As the Semi's got under way and the Misfits in an almost party mood, dancing on the sidelines as a team warm up the game was over before it had began with the oppososition unsure what had hit them.....
THE MISFITS WERE IN THE FINAL .....of their first Softball Tournament as a Team :-)
Their opponants............The Pyros also from Nottingham, so a team from Nottingham were going to win The Trophey and it was the the Pyros who prevailed with a team full of up and coming talent and the Misfits not playing the Final as well as they had erlier that Sunday (and probably the night before catching up on them) it was a fair and deserved result 14 - 8
The team as a whole will learn how Tournament play can differ from League play and look forward to their next encounter in Manchester!!!
Below are a few memories from a great weekend .....enjoy :-)
